Cape Town – Western Cape coastal routes including the spectacular Chapmans Peak Drive have topped a poll on which South African tourist attractions should get first visit from Google’s Street View cameras.

The vote was conducted online and by cellphone.

Second most popular was Kruger National Park, followed by the Blyde River Canyon.

Google said yesterday photography would begin in the next few weeks, and the images would be ready in time for the 2010 soccer World Cup. The pictures are used in conjunction with Google maps to allow internet users to see detailed images of places. – Sapa
