ISSUES of youth development were raised at a meeting between the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) and newly elected Nelson Mandela Bay Mayor Zanoxolo Wayile at City Hall yesterday.

The Hungary-based WFDY delegation and the mayor also met ANC Youth League secretary-general Abner Mosaase and local youth leader Thabo Malgas with the aim of formulating youth development programmes in Nelson Mandela Bay.

“I’m happy that an organisation as important as yours and with an international footprint has taken an interest in Nelson Mandela Bay, especially in terms of youth development, which is one of our priority areas as the council,” Wayile said.

WFDY president Tiago Vieira, who led the international delegation, said their link with Nelson Mandela Bay began when the former Cosas and ANC leader in Port Elizabeth, the late Andile Yawa, was president of the world youth federation.

The youth leaders applauded Wayile yesterday for giving priority to youth issues.
