Cape Town – Cosatu announced yesterday it would join the class- action lawsuit in the American courts against companies that collaborated with apartheid.

The action will begin on January 11 in New York, where legal teams will argue why the case should go ahead. Earlier this year, Judge Shira Scheindlin decided the case could go forward, but the defendants – General Motors, Ford, Daimler, IBM and Reine Metal – have lodged an appeal, to be heard next month. – I-Net Bridge
