A VIOLENT drama about the Second World War, a music documentary and an action movie combining reality TV with computer gaming all hit the big screen this weekend.
Inglourious Basterds: Quentin Tarantino (famous for the films Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill) returns to the director’s seat for this historic action movie set in the Second World War.
Brad Pitt stars in the film about a group of American soldiers who target Nazi soldiers, always leaving one alive to relate the horror of the attack to his superiors.
But when they meet a Jewish girl who runs a movie theatre, and wants to take revenge on the Nazis for what they did to her family, they come up with an idea to eliminate all the top leaders in one operation.
Diane Kruger, Eli Roth, Mike Myers and Julie Dreyfus co- star in the drama, while Samuel L Jackson provides a voice-over. The film runs for 152 minutes and carries a 16 age restriction for language, violence and prejudice.
It is opening at The Boardwalk, Walmer Park, The Bridge and the Garden Route Mall.
Gamer: Simon (Logan Lerman) is the best player in the highly popular online multi-player game Slayers, which is watched by millions worldwide.
But what he doesn’t realise is that his character, Kable (Gerard Butler) and the other slayers are not a computer graphic, but real people, forced to fight to the death for others’ entertainment.
When Kable realises what is going on, he has to find a way to escape the game and bring down evil genius Ken Castle (Michael C Hall) who invented the “game”.
The film is opening at The Bridge and The Boardwalk.
Fokofpolisiekar: Forgive Them for They Know Not What They Do: The popular Afrikaans punk rock band comes to the big screen in this documentary which follows the group’s career over a four- year period.
Bryan Little directs the documentary which runs for 107 minutes and carries a 16 age restriction for language.
