AS we reach the end of the year, viewers can expect several new shows to hit our screens, particularly reality and game shows.
Tonight at 6.15pm, Animax (channel 126) launches a show called Unbeatable Banzuke – which may remind viewers of Gladiators and other similar obstacle-dodging game shows.
Testing balance, endurance, problem solving and physical strength. On Tuesday at 8pm, the same channel launches a show which brings a whole new level of competitiveness to dating shows.
Tough Love sees eight single women going through boot camp style training in their search for Mr Right.
On December 24, Animax launches the bizarre programme I Survived a Japanese Game Show.
It’s an unscripted show, which transports 10 Americans to Tokyo to compete in a range of zany challenges.
People who prefer their reality shows to be about celebrity families – like The Osbournes or Hogan Knows Best – will want to keep their eyes out for Meet the Hasselhoffs.
The programme featuring ex-Knight Rider and Baywatch star David Hasselhoff debuts on the Vuzu Channel (123) on December 29 at 7.30pm.
If you prefer scripted sitcoms, watch out for former Full House star Bob Saget, starring in the new programme Surviving Suburbia. It starts on December 24 at 7.30pm.
Also keep an eye out on the various music video channels, as well as Vuzu, E! Entertainment and the news networks, as they will all have highlights programmes of the best and worst of 2009 coming up during the next few weeks.
