LOOKING for that perfect gift for that special petrolhead in your life? Just in time for Christmas is 2010 the Motorheads diary – now in its fourth year – and it claims to make it easy to plan your motoring year while also being a conventional diary.

Motorheads was the idea of Midrand artist and motor enthusiast, Heide-Marie von der Au and the fourth edition stays with popular A5, page-a-day format, allowing plenty of space for notes and daily reminders.

Each page includes a “fact of the day” and, on each weekend, the diary lists events from a wide range of motoring and motorsport disciplines.

For instance, a typical Motorheads weekend listing will include a Formula 1 race, a World Superbike meeting, a Classic Car show in George and a National championship rally – or perhaps a Classic Car race at Zwartkop.

There’s also all sorts of useful motoring related information, such as diagrams of South African race tracks, a listing of every F1 and MotoGP champion in history and a listing of all the major car clubs in South Africa.

The 2010 edition, like its predecessors, is peppered with interesting articles on a diverse number of motoring personalities and cars. Of particular interest is a special photographic tribute to the 1968 South African GP by John Foster showing pictures of the late Jim Clark taking his last victory, as well as the likes of Denny Hulme driving a BRM-engined McLaren!

There are articles by some of the country’s top motoring journalists, including VW historian, John Lemon, Mini author, Ryno Verster, Witzenberg Motor Club stalwart, Patrick Vermaak, motorcycling personality Clive Strugnell and Car magazines Gauteng correspondent, Stuart Johnston. Motorheads 2010 is available now at bookshops across South Africa.
