ARE the Port Elizabeth Parks Department aware youngsters on their noisy scrambler motorbikes are using the upper part of Settlers Park as a dirt track? These kids on their expensive toys seem totally unconcerned about the destruction they are causing to the grassed areas of the park, not to mention the stress their loutish behaviour must cause to the few remaining creatures that survive in this nature reserve.

I have no objection to young lads having a bit of fun, but surely they should be made aware of the destruction they are causing to our fragile environment, whether creating havoc in a nature reserve on a motorbike or on a jetski terrorising the creatures of the sea?

One would hope in this enlightened age young people are being educated to treasure our fragile planet, not put more pressure on it by their selfish indulgences. – Mike Jones, Essexvale, Port Elizabeth
